Cupping
Cupping therapy involves the placement of glass or plastic suction cups on the skin. A vacuum is created inside of the cup by using heat or a suction pump to lift the skin away from the muscles. The cup can be positioned directly on a point, or it can be glided with the use of oil. When this happens, blood is moved towards the surface, creating more room for it to move. The cups are usually used on the lower, middle, or upper back, and used to treat muscle stiffness, soreness, or pain. They can also be used to help relieve coughs or respiratory congestion in the lungs. Cupping therapy helps bring extra circulation to areas in which energy is stuck or not moving smoothly enough. This process is relatively painless, however - due to the nature of cupping, you may experience temporary, minor discomfort during the procedure. You may also have small areas of circular shaped bruising on the skin, which usually resolves in a few days.
