Auricular acupuncture
Auricular acupuncture is a health care modality where the external surface of the auricle (ear), is stimulated via acupuncture needle, manual pressure, lasers, magnets, and ear pellets to alleviate pathological conditions in other parts of the body. Insertion of acupuncture needles into specific points can relieve both the symptoms and the underlying pathology of a particular health problem.
Depending on the internal organ/body region treated, the respective auricular points should be stimulated. For example, if back problems are the issue, the points in the ear that are related to the back would be stimulated. Various auricular points can be stimulated at the same time.
What is Auricular acupuncture using for?
Auricular acupuncture belongs to the group of very “soft” methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and therefore there are practically no contraindications for its application. It is usually used as a supportive treatment to other more effective therapies, such as corporal acupuncture. Microneedles or press-needles placed at the points related to the cortex can be tried for insomnia, anxiety, lack of concentration, and psychoses.
According to recent study, Auricular acupuncture is effective for weight loss in overweight individuals, by using a special 5 point combination of auricular acupuncture points: shenmen, spleen, stomach, hunger, endocrine. Microneedles or press needles placed at these points should be manually stimulated for a view minutes whenever the patient feels hungry.
In this treatment, I'll apply up to five sterilized stainless steel needles just under the skin at designated points in each ear. This is beneficial for weight loss, addictions, depression, mental health, and emotional trauma.
